MAGI’s laboratory carries out the omic studies necessary for understanding the role played by genetic variants in the human body, the molecular mechanisms underlying diseases, and the interaction of various disease pathways with certain natural molecules.
Covering an area of 500 square meters, our lab has 13 researchers including medical doctors, biologists, and biotechnologists. Our studies aim at identifying and testing the natural molecules extracted from typical ingredients of the Mediterranean diet in order to demonstrate their effects in preventing certain pathological conditions.
Our main research focuses on the polyphenols extracted from the plants that are typically consumed in the Mediterranean diet, most importantly those sourced from olives.
